The Millers get play underway right away with a game against the Glass City Black Sox at 10:00am on Sunday the 27th. They used to be a very good team but they finished a little below us in 2012. Three of our four early opponents are pretty good teams and I don't know the fourth team at all. Our team should be able to hit and catch the ball well this year, as usual. We're a little short on pitching though and we lost Kent Rogers to the 45's. Kevin Mueller is back this year, however, and he pitched well in a few outings this fall. We also don't have a second catcher this year but we have a number of guys that can spell Mac when he needs it. Big Donkey, Jay Wright is back with us this year so that will give us an extra outfielder and some more power at the plate. Dan Paulson is also 100% this year after hurting his knee last fall and all but ending his season before we even left for Florida. That will be a big help for us at shortstop, at the plate, and at the bar. It isn't, however, good news for the lobsters in those claw tanks. I think Dan leads the world in the number of lobsters he's pulled from those machines. I still fell bad for the one we set free in the gulf one night a few years back. I don't think he lasted long in that warm water. All -in-all it's shaping up to be a fun tournament and we can't wait to get down there.

Welcome to the home of the Minneapolis Millers Baseball Team.  The Millers are a group of guys that play summer baseball for a variety of teams in the Twin Cities metro area.  They also come together for a few games during the summer as well as playing a full fall league schedule before they travel to Fort Myers, Florida to play in the Roy Hobbs World Series.  In past years they have played under the name of the Minnesota Saints but in 2003 there was a management shakeup that led to a name and uniform change.  The name was taken from the old minor league team that used to play at Nicollet Park in south Minneapolis.  To honor that team they have modeled their uniforms on that team's uniform from the early 1950's.

The old Millers team played in the American Association from 1902 to 1960 and spent most of their tenure with the Red Sox and Giants organizations.  Some notable stars that played for the Millers include Hall Of Famers Roger Bresnahan, Jimmy Collins, Urban 'Red' Faber, Bill McKechnie, George Kelly, Billy Herman, Ted Williams, Ray 'Dandy' Dandridge, Willie Mays, Zack Wheat, Rube Waddell, Hoyt Wilhelm, Monte Irvin, Orlando Cepeda and Carl Yastrzemski.  And the great Jimmie Foxx was a Millers coach in 1958.
